Sometimes it rains. HARD. And all day, despite your lovely outdoor preparations. But Tina & Leevan made the best of it. While there was a monsoon outside, there was love, family, friendship and one hot photoshoot inside! Here’s a sneak peek. More coming soon…

Can you believe it’s June already? I’ve been so busy shooting lovely weddings like Yolande’s and Richard’s I’ve been neglecting my blog postings. Forgive me. We were blessed with a beautiful, hot, summer day in NYC. Did I mention it was HOT? It was no joke, but the bride and groom kept their cool as they said their vows and jumped the broom. Here’s a sneak peek. More coming soon…

There is nothing like Springtime in the city! Christine & Michael shared the most beautiful wedding day in NYC, ever. We had fun galavanting through Central Park, when we found this fresh little garden area, just waiting for us to shoot a few wedding photos there. Vintage Vera Wang never looked so good! Sneak a peek. More coming soon…

When short on time take your photos! – The reception is like a sprint. Really, it goes too fast. There are many people to talk to. There are tons of activities planned. Everyone wants your attention, and most likely you don’t want to disappoint. It’s very difficult to divert your attention back to taking wedding photos, once you get caught up in your reception activities. It’s best to arrive at your reception hall first, before your guests arrive. That way we can take loads photos before everyone descends on you, your groom, and the rest of your bridal party. You’ll get a first-look at your beautiful dining room and anticipate the wedding festivities you’ve planned for so long. Plus, photojournalistic & creatively-posed photography in an empty reception hall is pretty posh!

Keep a few wedding reception traditions – I’ve noticed many post-millennial brides tend to forego the wedding reception traditions of yesteryear – the bouquet toss, cake cutting, removing the garter, rice throwing, etc. But, hold on…this is my appeal to you. Do them anyway. Why? Photographically, they round out the timeline of your reception well. I know these photographs may seem corny today, but looking back on your wedding day 10 or 20 or 30 years from now, these traditions will add a certain charm to your wedding album…even if you are somewhat embarrassed, apprehensive, or awkward. Your natural expression is part of the fun! Plus, your kids will enjoy your photographs much more than you will. So don’t be afraid to dive in and embrace all the cheesiness of it!

Watch a funny flick –  Yes. Drop everything. Put in that DVD and watch a funny flick. There’s nothing like a hilarious wedding movie to take away all your pre-marital stressors! Here are my top ten:

Occasionally I love to laugh at my grandmother-Winnifred’s tendency to walk down the aisle. Here’s a late-1970s snapshot of myself with cousins, as bridesmaids…in my grandmother’s second wedding somewhere in Boston, Massachusetts. Little did we know there would be a third one! Don’t worry, it’s not an Elizabeth-Taylor-situation…it’s just that all her husbands died before her. And I promise you there was no foul-play involved!

Market Table in the West Village was a quaint little location for a wedding reception…and might I add, a delicious one too! Here are a few photographs from Sabrina & Sean’s wedding celebration.
