When short on time take your photos! – The reception is like a sprint. Really, it goes too fast. There are many people to talk to. There are tons of activities planned. Everyone wants your attention, and most likely you don’t want to disappoint. It’s very difficult to divert your attention back to taking wedding photos, once you get caught up in your reception activities. It’s best to arrive at your reception hall first, before your guests arrive. That way we can take loads photos before everyone descends on you, your groom, and the rest of your bridal party. You’ll get a first-look at your beautiful dining room and anticipate the wedding festivities you’ve planned for so long. Plus, photojournalistic & creatively-posed photography in an empty reception hall is pretty posh!

This fall seems more like spring. It’s rained almost everyday. But that did not stop Iris & Sam from having a ball in the park, on a day that began cloudy and wet. Autumn color is to be enjoyed – rain or shine! More coming soon -

{minna FYI} – Fall Engagement Sessions
October 1, 2009
Hey folks,
This is just a reminder now is a great time to schedule your FALL Engagement Sessions…especially if you’re trying to catch the gorgeous autumnal colors during the months of October and November. Ditto for those who would like Portrait and Family Sessions, too.
I’m drawing up my schedule now. Those who have booked, of course, have first priority. If you’re interested in weekend dates, let me know, as they get taken quickly. Please keep in mind it’s best to head out early to beat the crowds. I do suggest mid-week sessions if you and your fiance are both available, since there are usually less visitors filling the parks and gardens. Hey, more time to take terrific shots!
(Yeah, I know, it’s still kind of nice out, but autumn will be here any moment.)
Cheers, Michelle

{minna FLASHBACK} – The Gloved Ones

So, I’ve been obsessed with everything Michael Jackson since his death in June. In the time since, single, white, sequined, rhinestoned, and bedazzled gloves have been auctioned off everywhere. The original MJ glove…the left-handed glove he wore on Motown’s 25th-anniversary TV special in 1983 (when he debuted the moonwalk and sang Billie Jean live) will finally go on the auction-block for many enthusiastic buyers, I’m sure.
I thought about bridal gloves and wondered, how do you get a wedding ring over that??? Wedding gloves are often fingerless today, but many from the 20th century weren’t. Does anyone wear them anymore?
17th century – It was customary among wealthy burghers of the seventeenth century for a future husband to present his fiancee with a pair of gloves upon their engagement. The bride would wear the gloves on her wedding day, only removing them when she gave her pledge, baring her hand for the bridegroom to hold. This luxuriously executed pair of gloves is made of thin white leather. The embroidery on the cuffs – the multicoloured silk, goldthread, pearls and spangles – is in the shape of various symbols associated with love and marriage.

September blooms…

The last blooms of summer are bright and gorgeous! Round the corner: fall foliage, then months of empty branches. Now is a great time to book your Engagement Photo Sessions and Family Portrait Sessions.

Save the hangover – I don’t know if you’ve seen any summer blockbusters, but one of the funniest films of the season is THE HANGOVER! It’s about three friends who lose the groom before his wedding day due to a ‘hangover.’ They spend the entire film retracing their steps until they find their buddy. Grooms, it’s your wedding day too. The best thing you can do for your bride is to be at the alter, bright-eyed and bushy-tailed, clear and refreshed. The camera doesn’t lie and can easily spot redness in the eyes, flushed skin tones, and lethargy. Sure. Go have a great time with your friends, but get enough rest after your bachelor party, so you don’t look eternally hung-over in your wedding day photographs.
